In this study, we aim to correlate the clinically described locations of MTrPs and the nerve entry points of branches of the axillary nerve which supplies the anterior, lateral and posterior heads of the deltoid (Leechavengvongs et al., 2014). We intend to dissect the axilla to identify the axillary nerve and the deltoid muscle on 12-14 donor cadaver bodies and study the nerve distribution to the muscle. Understanding the topography of MTrPs as identified clinically and matching them to the anatomical location of entry points of the nerves will hopefully guide diagnostic and therapeutic measures. MTrPs are the causative factor in Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) and other forms of chronic pain which are currently not well understood or managed.
